Registration of a new species for Iran

Registration of a new species for Iran, 6.5 years after its observation!

A photo taken by Mr. Amir Hossein Aghaei of a Brahminy Kite near the Pakistani border in  Bahuklat, Sistan and Baluchestan province, in the last week of October 2013, was registered by the Iran Bird Record Committee as a new species for Iran on April 11th, 2020.

The photographer, who did not know that he had photographed a new species for Iran, published this photo after 6.5 years and answered the question of whether there is a reliable record of the Brahminy Kite in Iran.

Brahminy Kite is a medium-sized bird of prey which occurs in southern and South East Asia, and in Australia. According to ebird, it was also recorded once in Oman, in 2015.
